Jamie N. Bakkum-Gamez, MD, is Professor of OB/GYN and Consultant in the Division of Gynecologic Oncology Surgery at the Mayo Clinic in Rochester, Minnesota. She received her undergraduate degree in Biology at Wartburg College, her medical degree from the University of Wisconsin School of Medicine and Public Health, and completed her residency in Obstetrics and Gynecology and fellowship in Gynecologic Oncology at the Mayo Clinic. Her practice includes the surgical care of women with gynecologic cancers and women at increased risk of gynecologic cancer. She is board certified in both Obstetrics & Gynecology and Gynecologic Oncology.
In addition to her clinical practice, Dr. Bakkum-Gamez is active in research, education, and quality. She has authored over 160 peer reviewed publications, currently co-leads the Breast and Gynecologic Cancer Translational Science Team of the Mayo Clinic Comprehensive Cancer Center, co-leads the Administrative Core of the Mayo Clinic SPORE in Ovarian Cancer, and serves as the Midwest Surgical Quality Subcommittee Chair. Her primary research focuses on the development of early detection tests for endometrial and ovarian cancers as well as novel therapeutics for advanced stage and recurrent endometrial cancer.
